Photographer's Note
I had to wake up early to catch the ragpicker women. Fortunately, for me..they work near where I was staying, making it very easy to fall out of bed to go and see them. This would be around 5am. They would wake up at 3/4am to make it here for 4.30/5am. Also, fortunately for me, I did not have to go and feed children and attend to household duties upon my return from "rag picking duty". It would be near impossible to see them after 9am, as they slip away into alleys, office blocks and residential blocks to collect their daily wages. Women from other areas work throughout the night, so there is sometimes little rubbish to be collected.

A beautiful, uh...poetc shot from you today, Kajal. No documentary this, rather it is a poem, at least it is shot that way even though your note brings us back to reality and ragpicking. Lvely, deep tardemark colors. One of the more resonan shots in this outstanding series...

Fine catch Kaj as the woman glances nervously over her shoulder. Perfect DOF to blur the dog. And a nice little tilt too to add to the anxiety. You've captured the early morning light perfectly. Remarkable series. Best regards, Roberto

Skilled photography.
Quick like a silver photography...

Let me start saying that I like this one a lot. It's like a British street scene in India. Your soft focus game is priceless here and speaks thousands to my soul. And the pastel yellow of the background reminds me some modern Dutch architecture. Quite different from the other photos of the project, but this alien feel is absolutely amazing. Love the interaction between the woman and the dog (a favorite subject of mine). Very sensitive Kajal, as always. Stay safe, l.

Kaj, your shots have a particularly lovely glow to them... perhaps you wake earlier than us human beings, perhaps you just are equipped with a sensibility I wish I could approach... you leave me breathless with your shots, one after the other... the interaction of this woman, her sari loosely thrown over her bare shoulder, with the stray dog is lovely in this early morning scene. As always, your colours are deep and thick like a magical forest... all is beauty in all the sadness.

This looks a little like it was taken with a Lomo. That is not a bad thing at all, just an observation. I like the over the shoulder view, the yellow tones and especially the placement of the dog. Maybe not as telling as some of your other photos, but an appealing shot for sure.

The most understated of your whole serie. I feel very close to this one, I know it's yours but I do so much agree with everything inside that it's like it was coming out of my own mind.
Everything falls exactly at the place I would have expected, colorful building, woman, dog, blur quality... how can I be critical...

hey there Kajal, how are ya! It's been awhile for me, good to see you're still posting.
This shot has lovely colours and good compositon. I have a bit of a prob with the heads though. I wish the dog were looking towards you or the girl and the girl's head more pointed towards the dog. This pic is made or broken by communiction between the two, but as it is it isn't very clear.
Still a good pic though, love the colours, vignetting, and it's graphical architecture.
All the best,
af

Quite like this one Kajal, a certain hint of the style of photography I shoot here, with the brightly coloured background and signage.
Rather than the dog being the connection, I find the connection is between her and the advertising as she does what she can to earn her way.
