Photographer's Note

On the Jodenbreestraat near the Fleemarket in Amsterdam you can find this bakery under the arches, open already at 7.30 in the morning. A good place for coffee and croissant, in the heart of the city. Too early for a visit on the fleamarket, that is starting around 9 o'clock.
If you follow this street you reach the Nieuwmarkt, a square with sometimes a little market, and with the only medieval towngate which is left. It is a beautiful building, on the head of the Zeedijk, where you find the new budhist temple.
The other old towngates in amsterdam are rebuilt in the 18th century als so much younger. There are plans to rebuild another medieval gate on the canal 'Singel', near Central Station.
