Photographer's Note
well, here is a detail of a bas-carving (or engraving ?)
this is a motif of a "present-bringer"( sorry to invent this word 'cause it's the exact meaning in farsi), who wants to gift the baby sheep to the King to offer them good luck for the new year.
P.S.: there is such a diversity of motifs, which difer from eachother in different details ( eyes, hands, feet, curls, beard, scabbardhead-dress,knot of the fillet,...),a research made by Michel D. Roaf shows there were 3 teams of sculptors who have been making these motives. Carving(only) the head of a motif like this, lasted 3 to 6 days to days...

Focussing tightly on the figure is a good idea. The part figure on the left helps to indicate that this is just part of a larger carving. I would have liked to see a little more of the figure on the right if only to avoid the main figure being right up against the edge.
The position of the sun has helped to emphasise the relief of the carving.

Thought, I think this picture is a little too much red. I try a workshop showing how I imagine the colours of the stones of Iran.
Voilà, à toi de me dire ce que tu en penses!

Hi,
Very nice picture and informative note.
The colours are a bit faded but it is still good and clear.
I also liked Roshangars and RockyBoys workshops. Since there is so little colour in the picture, did you try black and white or sepia I think that would have made it look good too.
Regards
Dinyar
