Photographer's Note

Mexico's state of Chiapas is inhabited mostly by descendants of the Maya people who built the great cities and pyramids of Chicheniza and Uxmal. The Maya still practice their traditional way of life. To help preserve their heritage and improve their livelihood village women have created co-ops for practicing their traditional crafts.
