Settlement of Santa Cecilia - Bomarzo (VT)
The Bosco di Santa Cecilia is located on the south east side of Bomarzo; it is accessed via a path that is not well marked and starts near the municipal sports field.
Soon you go down to a large clearing on the edge of the rocky bastion, where there is a picnic area; next to a small anthropomorphic tomb begins a narrow path carved in stone, with steps shaped between two rocks.
The small via cava descends steeply between the rocky wall and large boulders, entering dense vegetation.
After a few hundred meters, on the right, you can see a large boulder dug to make a cave-house, equipped with two entrances, a rainwater drainage channel and an incision for the canopy, to protect the entrance. .
Continuing to descend on a terrace you will come across the remains of a large cemetery area with numerous uncovered peperino sarcophagi, it is an early Christian burial area, which the Bomarzesi call "cemetery of Chia".

Hello Silvio,
One more fascinating view. For untrained eyes, and without quite understanding the dimensions, it would be difficult to understand what this shows. Without knowing anything I could see this as a modernist sculpture in a museum garden. It really looks beautiful.

Lovely shot showing the sad & overgrown ruin of the old forgotten place and the surrounding features suits the subject. Lovely clarity that brings out the detail and this, imho has a timelessness about it.
