Photographer's Note
The ex - Tarrafal Concentration Camp, currently the Museum of the Resistance and considered a national monument, is located in Tarrafal, Santiago Island in Cape Verde. The concentration camp was established in 1936 by the Portuguese fascist government to imprison political prisoners, which titled "Penal Colony Tarrafal" was in place years of atrocities and human rights violations, to be closed in the 1970s.
worked in two distinct periods: 1936 to 1954, as exile and extermination camp for Portuguese and European political prisoners; 1961 and 1974 to militants and fighters of the African anticolonial movements
