I also used the car I rented in SANTIAGO DE CHILE to go from that city to MENDOZA'S REGION in ARGENTINA. The focus of that road trip was to drive across the ANDES MOUNTAIN RANGE, passing by PORTILLO (another chilean ski resort), the ACONCGUA MOUNTAIN (the highest one in the Americas) and LOS PENITENTES (a small argentine ski resort) and its surroundings! Everything pleased me, although I think it'd be nicer with snow up in the mountains (maybe harder and with the possibility of closed roads). However, the surrounding areas nearby MENDOZA and USPALLATA, driving along RUTA 7 in ARGENTINA, was the most surprising experience, because it's a wonderful region for sure, where all the high mountains have lots of different colors. The road is placed on a valley, follows a meandering river and has lots of short tunnels, which makes everything so adventurous!

I had some problems as I crossed the border between Chile and Argentina, because the official procedures took long four hours (too bureaucratic, even for a brazilian) and I ended up not having enough time to pull over and take all the pictures I wanted (night would fall soon and the road seemed a bit dangerous to drive, with lots of trucks, many brazilian ones that would drive from and to SANTIAGO DE CHILE and many cities in my COUNTRY - a long, long way).

On my way back, although the day was so nice, clear, sunny with blue skies above, I was afraid of being late returning the car and didn't stop by the beauties either. Fortunately the crossing from ARGENTINA back to CHILE was much easier and faster!

A TE member asked me and I answered him: Yes, I had to pay a special fee for the rental company in order to do that road trip (going across the border between CHILE and ARGENTINA).

I'll have to go back there, mostly to Mendoza and its wonderful surroundings!
