Photographer's Note
Knole House is an English country house in the civil parish of Sevenoaks in west Kent. Sevenoaks consists of the town itself and then Knole Park a 1,000-acre (4.0 km2) park, within which the house is situated. Knole is one of England's largest houses, the National Trust attribute a possibility of its having at some point been a calendar house which had 365 rooms, 52 staircases, 12 entrances and 7 courtyards. Its grade I listing reflects its mix of Elizabethan to late Stuart structures, particularly in the case of the central façade and state rooms. The surrounding deer park has also survived with little having changed in the 400 years since 1600 although its formerly dense woodland has not fully recovered from the loss of over 70% of its trees in the Great Storm of 1987. Hi Agnes.Really interesting to read the notes on this house, especially the number of rooms and scale. It happen the same thing in the castle of my country and it is very pleasant to discover that even in England have thought the same thing. The pic is excellent with a beautiful outlook diagonal and well exposed despite the facade in shadow.Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Agnes,
You have written an interesting note about this place and given us a lovely photograph with which to illustrate it.
Despite the quite strong shade which affects the frontage of this magnificent building, you have coped with the light extremely well and we can see full details in the deepst shadows and also in the very brightest parts of the image.
I love our composition, the pathway leading the eye perfectly toward the main entrance with its high towers above it. And the inclusion of other visitors walking towards you - especially the near couple with their dog straining at its leash - adds to the appeal as well as giving human interest and a fine sense of scale. Even the little girl in her bright pink top adds just a little extra sparkle too.
Gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.
Lovely!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Agnes. It was silly of me to write my previous critique to you in Croatian. English from now on.Ho lucky are the English to be surrounded by so much that is old and historical. Even taking a dog for a walk ends up into a journey into history! Excellent details and lovely light.Best wishes. Klaudio.

Bonjour Agnes,
J'aime beaucoup le point de vue qui nous offre d'emprunter le sentier vers la porte principale de ce superbe château.J'aime la diagonale dans l'image qui donne beaucoup de profondeur à l'ensemble.
Amicalement

Good evening Agnes,
Fine view on the outstanding length of the beautiful mansion, a palace not just a house...
Side light gave shades over the entrance and windows, and you managed this marvelousely. Inclusion of people / tourists gave extra vivid tones, along with nice green (lawn) and blue(sky).
Best regards,
Ike

Hello Agnes,
I haven't been there for years and your picture reminds me to revisit. This is a good view of the house with the path leading in. The group of people adds something from the present day (I like the girl in pink). A very sharp picture with excellent light management.
Kind Regards, Ann

Hi Agnes
I'm a big fan of all these large mansions, manors, castles etc...
there are 365 rooms in this house? wow...one for each day of the year i suppose.
52 staircases? another wow!! maybe thats the craziest fact of them all.
well chosen angle to display the overall size and power of this Knole House.
I like it alot!
cheers
