If you open Wikipedia you can read: "Southern California, often abbreviated as SoCal, is a megaregion or megapolitan area in the southern portion of the US state of California. Large urban areas include the Greater Los Angeles, and Greater San Diego. The region stretches along the coast from about Santa Barbara to the United States and Mexico border, and from the Pacific Ocean inland to the Nevada and Arizona borders. The heavily built-up urban area stretches along the coast from Ventura, through the Greater Los Angeles Area, the Inland Empire and down to San Diego. Southern California is a major economic center for the state of California and the United States".

but this landscape could show you another side of SoCal without "large urban areas".

Hi Serghei,
A fine view, taken from a car driving along this freeway. A beautiful landscape around, to be enjoyed while driving. Pleasant colours and interesting clouds, looks like a warmfront is on its way. Did you get some light rain later?

That's what I like about traveling too, finding things that are out of the stereotyped notions of the place!

Hello Serghei

"It never rains in Southern California", Albert Hammond song once. Well, that`s the case here as well. A fine picture with the road as a lead into the landscape with the undulating fields. Some attractive colours and fine cloud formations too. Very nice work! Thanks.

Howdy Serghei,

Interesting how others perceive Los Angeles and SoCal.
I am curious where specifically this image is?
It is not within the City of Los Angeles 'city limits'.

I left SoCal decades ago for northern California and job forces requiring my working in the Capitol - Sacramento for Transportation.

California is perhaps the weirdest State because we have such a huge diversity in environment and places. One can leave SoCal's crowded civilization and drive to the lowest place on Earth in Death Valley, or the highest mountain - Whitney outside of Alaska in the U.S., etc. etc....

those are some wonderful clouds in the sky. I think I like them more than the landscape! haha

My memories of driving into Los Angeles from Las Vegas was a nightmare, nothing but long long lineups and traffic jams - so good for you to have this open space.

sweet color contrasts with the greens and blues, i like it.

Great colors in this photo; "earth tones," with the bright blue and green! Good balance here: nothing is excessive or overwhelming. I am wondering exactly where it was taken, because it is very rare for the hills of southern California to be such a lovely shade of emerald green!
