Photographer's Note
This 'upside down' reflection was taken in Saigon but I am not sure exactly where. It was a large water feature where students and other people seemed to relax perhaps finding it cooler there.
Saigon is officially called Ho Chi Minh City but not by the local residents. Although it is Vietnam's largest city and the centre for commerce, it is Hanoi that is the administrative capital. Its history is complicated and much of its character stems from when it was a French colony. It was designated the capital of the Republic of South Vietnam in 1955 and later became the centre of the American war effort. Two years after the American troops withdrew in 1973 it became communist controlled and renamed Ho Chi Minh City. In more recent years it became a bustling and expanding city with much construction work with business and tourism growth.

Hi Ann,
A very good inverted reflection, the forms are nicely softened. The strong horizontal bands over the picture are also very well included in the composition. Some strong colours add an eye-catching effect.
Kind regards
Gunnar

Hello Ann - This is the type of shot I associate with your creative eye and to me encapsulates the best of your individual style. Vietnam is a country that I still want to visit but will have the 'eye' to see shots as original as this one? I doubt it. An super composition with the prescribed group of three positioned well withing the frame. Nicely done! Warm regards Rosemary

Hello Ann,
You made a clever observation and an intriguing composition. The sharp features of the people relaxing in the shade add some bright colours that contrast nicely with the mild, blurred tones of the reflections. I don't remember this place, but Saigon is a big city and it changes fast, It's almost 6 years since my last visit.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Ann,
excellently spotted and executed daily-life scene from Ho Chi Minh City.
I like how the scene combines daily-life aspect with its "abstract" form.
Beautiful and very creative reflection shot!
Wish You a nice sunday

Hello Ann,
There was a vogue for these "upside down reflections" a while back here on TE (I remember Gunnar (saxo042) posting a few from Gothenburg) but they are still appealing and this is a delightful one from Saigon with lots of interest and lots of things to look at in it.
As is your norm, this is a wonderfully "graphic" image with strong lines of composition, albeit horizontal, which divide the image perfectly, yet, despite that we can still appreciate a lovely scene in this reflection on what must have been very calm water.
Lovely light and colours, perfect exposure and excellent details too.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Ann,
The reflections are perfect for this creative composition. Good observation from a keen eye to click the reflections rather than the original scene. I like the way the railings have divided the frame into different parts making this look like a collage of 2-3 pictures. Well seen and taken, thanks for sharing.

namaste,
it is really a smart presentation. I like the idea of presenting upside down. A nice optical illusion created here by there reflections of human figures and those horizontal lines. Interesting one and enjoyable too. Tfs.

Hello Ann,
a little lesson here on observation and composition with the three people ever so well spotted in the first place and then perfectly placed in the frame.
There is lots to browse and enjoy in this imaginative shot.
Kind regards Les.

Hello Ann,
Well observed reflection. Nice a bit blurred picture of these three students relaxing. Eye catching colours. Superb composition, nicely done.
I was interested rather in northern towns, Saigon seemed to me too big for visiting. But I see one can find something original there too.

Howdy Ann,
Stimulating image with the reflections acting more like waving mirrors accentuating the varying geometric patterns.
Well done,
Cheers,
Ray

Hi Ann,
cool shot! I have never tried a upside down picture but this is a good inspiration for future attempts. I looks like the people in this scene are hanging in the air or something. It is hard to make a description but i like what i see:)
Best regards/

Hi Ann
yes, Brenda posted a similar photo from NYC just a couple days ago - the inverted image.
this one almost looks like a real photo too.
really enjoy the horizontal lines with the vertical lines in them, and the choice to complete the scene with the blue bricks on the bottom anchors it smartly.
lots to like and I didn't even mention the reflection!
cheers

Ciapo Ann
Complimenti
Ciao e buona domenica
