Photographer's Note

This is the second picture taken at the end of Camel Festival - the first was posted last year- a shot not from a studio session or she did not pose for me. This was an accidental shot, a rare opportunity in fact and unplanned when TV Crew members from local station were busy filming a scene for commercials at Thar desert. This photogenic model posed far too long. was too absorbed and paused momentarily in the process. Few burst of shots followed in quick succession from some distant and managed to steal few good shots at 1/100sec hand held.

The setting sun casted some wonderful soft low warm light over the cold desert and I was fascinated by ambient, the mixed of natural and diffuse artificial lights coming from the supporting strobes. I would have loved her to be at a more appropriate spot in the composition but this was simply beyond my reach in such a situation where there was no luxury of time to have a proper framing.

I guess, at times it's only natural that we win some and lose some!
and we can't always have what we want...

Hi Abmdsudi,
I actually love her position in the composition, there is something very appealing about her rainbow of colors taking up that space in an otherwise empty void, and I feel it makes her colour stand out even more wonderfully. Her glance to the side is very appealing too, almost mysterious. As she wears such rich colours, and materials and jewelry, it makes me wonder who this woman is, a princess perhaps? Beautiful shot, thanks as always for sharing.

I like the way you capture this portrait photo.First of all she wears really fabulous and colorful clothes,whach makes the shot so attractive,especially against completly white backdrop.Another thing is the way you framed the scene and how you placed (off the center) the woman in the shot.

questa tua foto colpisce immediatamente non solo per l'ottimo ritratto nel quale ad una nitidezza eccellente si accoppia una bella espressione del soggetto, ma anche per i ricchi colori che lo stesso espone sia negli abiti che nella bigiotteria con la quale si orna.
Particolarmente bella anche la scelta di uno sfondo del tutto neutrale che valorizza ulteriormente la figura.

I believe that this is a won, not a lost shot. The portrait is very interesting and looks spontaneous and natural while the absence of a comprehensive backdrop gives it an artistic feel. The distance between top and bottom border has been calculated wisely and has enhanced the appeal of the vivid colours, the fascination of the jewellery and the intrigue evoked by the intense expression directed towards the border and not the centre of the frame. PS. The subject of lost shots is really "painful" for me these days: one of my loveliest and luckiest (to be honest) compositions is too blurry to show...

And there we go with another superb portrait shot with all the details of the face and expression well captured. It shows the essence of the Rajasthani women, which dress so colourful and freely wear all kind of flashy jewellery, some real gold but many fine fashion jewellery. Well done

You're capturing well this portrait by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the woman wearing the traditional shawl/dress with primary color, and who has attached gorgeous accessories to the body. And, it's impressive in red powder sindoor on forehead, too.

You talked about, not the optimal framing of the lady...I would rather talk about and pride about (if I were you) the precise timing to get a fine candid expression on her face and the crispness of the capture. You have good steady hands to have such a good sharp image with 300 mm...Interesting is the backdrop, or rather the lack of it, removes all possible clutter to allow us concentrate on her face...Fine work!

I actually like where she is in the composition, it's as if she's looking at the rest of a story that we have yet to see or understand. Or perhaps she is looking back into the past with a mixture of surprise and resignation....

Regardless, she is a stunning assemblage of colors, the finest of photographic eye-candy, and the super lucky thing is to have her all to yourself against a simple white background.
