Vasconcellos at Versailles

In a warm evening in Paris, what best that go at Versailles to enjoy music at the gardens in front of the water fountains?

When entering the gardens I found this very big sculpture by Joanna de Vasconcellos, the mix of modern sculptures in the traditional gardens ( there were more) is nor totally of my taste...

'My work has developed around the idea that the world is an opera, and Versailles embodies the operatic and aesthetic ideal that inspires me.
The works that I propose exist for this place. I see them as linked to Versailles in a timeless way.
When I stroll through the rooms of the palace and its gardens,I feel the energy of a setting that gravitates between reality and dreams, the everyday and magic, the festive and the tragic. I can still hear the echo

Of the footsteps of Marie-Antoinette, and the music and festive ambiance of the stately rooms. how would the life of Versailles look if this exuberant and grandiose universe was transferred to our period?

Bonjour Maria
Bon cadrage du sujet.
Attention : le contre jour fausse la mesure de la lumiиre du capteur cela donne une sous exposition. La solution c'est de fixer un filtre dйgradй gris sur l'objectif ou surexposer de +1 EV par rapport aux mesures; ici on risque de perdre des dйtails sur le ciel par une surexposition.
Meilleur moyen c'est de faire des essais avec des expositions diffйrentes +1/3, -2/3, +1 .... etc

Hi Maria
It's rather interesting capture with the sculpture at thumb nail resembles a giant glass container. Well seen and taken where the main subjet is well detailed although I feel that in strong harsh light like this we get lots of hard shadows without much highlights retained. But the contrast to blue sky is great, sharp and well composed. Well done.

Hola Maria.
Una hermosa composicion que resulta muy hermosa, tanto por la simetria por los parterres ajardinados, como por la gigantesca vasija, que me parece un hermoso trabajo en hierro forjado, que da un precioso grafismo a la composicion con su contraluz.
Para mi gusto la imagen gana, con el postprocesado que muestras en el WS.
Disfruta de un feliz fin de semana.

beautiful the construction of the glass container with iron,as the way that outlined against the cloudy sky.A bit of more light and the whole image would be more lighted and even more effective.

Hola Maria,
the composition is great, using the symmetry and depth to make the original sculpture stand out even more and attract our attention with its elegant patterns and transparency. I think it's a little dark too and appreciate Didi's workshop and advice. A great combination of the extraordinary graphism of the work of art with the gardens and the sky. The atmosphere is eerie and fascinating. Well done and thank you!

Hola Marнa,
el encuadre centrado en la enorme escultura en forma de jarrуn, y la belleza de los jardines y de las nubes en el cielo, hacen una composiciуn atractiva y agradable.
El contraluz era fuerte y dificultaba la toma, y creo que eso se nota en el resultado general de la foto, que encuentro un poco oscura.
El WS que ha hecho nuestro amigo Didi corrige eficazmente este pequeсo problema.
De todas formas, la foto estб bien planteada y tiene una gran estructura grбfica.

Glad you enjoyed my photo today. :-) Although this picture may not be Paris, it's still close enough! Is this another great place for a walk also, or what? The grounds are gorgeous, I could have spent much more time slowly taking in the atmosphere and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

This picture is quite deceiving, each time I take a look I see it in a different perspective/size. Somewhat of an optical illusion. I think this is one of the instances where placing the main subject in the middle of the frame works to its advantage. The two-tone color scheme of black & blue works well together, and the clouds add just enough contrast to make it even more interesting. A nice display of art and a fine presentation to showcase it. Thanks for the note written, appreciated.
An interesting art element in the Versailles garden, a bit diff. and modern work.
What I'd done in an evening shot like this - is to use backlight mode I knaow the Nikon has. It would balance the already darkening background.
Anyway, this is a well chosen POV, placed the main subject symetrically on mid-picture., and with fine sharpness.
