Srinagar est cйlиbre pour ses Houseboats, sur le lac Dal, des bateaux d'habitation а l'architecture tout а fait caractйristique, souvent en bois de santal. 
Ces bateaux cohabitent avec les shikaras, de petites embarcations de diverses tailles et utilisйes а diverses fonctions. Comme les gondoles а Venise, elles sont un symbole culturel du Cachemire.  Certaines sont utilisйes pour la pкche, le ramassage des fleurs et graines de lotus, innombrables sur le lac Dal. D'autres sont utilisйes pour promener les touristes ou par des marchands qui accostent les houseboats et viennent y vendre fleurs ou artisanat local  

Srinagar is famous for its Houseboats on Dal lake, of very characteristic architecture and often in sandal wood .
They cohabitate with the shikaras, a type of wooden boats of varied sizes and used for multiple purposes, including transportation of people. Drivers use oars having a unique spade-shaped bottom to row the shikara. Like the Venetian gondolas, they are a cultural symbol of Kashmir. Some shikaras are still used for fishing, harvesting aquatic vegetation (usually for fodder), and transport in the deeper parts of Dal Lake, while most are covered with tarpaulins and are used by tourists. Some are used as floating homes by poor people. Some others are used by merchants who moor to the houseboats and sell to tourists their flowers and handicrafts

l'eau est si immobile que les bateaux semblent il suspendue dans une atmosphиre immatйrielle. Le brouillard lйger contribue а crйer une atmosphиre onirique trиs fascinant.

Bon, Ok j'avais envie de voir le Kerala mais je crois que зa ne sera pas pour cette annйe. Quand je vois de telles photos je craque. Ta gestion de la lumiиre est absolument extra, c'est vraiment trop beau avec cet arriиre plan dans la brume. Bravo.

the clarity of the water here is so stunning, it almost looks as the houseboat is floating in mid-air... fascinating.
Like in your Zanzibar series, you managed to captured a palette of whites and pale blues that is really beautiful.
the difference between the misty background and the crisp foreground is striking, but the way the two flow into each other is even more impressive.

This is a lovely combination of mist and the Shikaras. The main subject is beautifully sharp with a wonderful reflection, and placed very well in the frame. The small details of the lily pads and the other boat on the diagonal add more interest to the picture. The misty lake and line of trees add a feeling of calm and beauty. Excellent.

la barque dans l'avant-plan semble flotter dans une scиne йthйrйe, grвce au brouillard sur le lac et а l'image qui est progressivement estompйe vers un arriиre-plan trиs esthйtique.
J'aime les tonalitйs si douces et les bons dйtails que nous voyons dans la barque de l'avant-plan, ainsi que ses reflets et les feuilles qui flottent sur l'eau.

Elle me plaоt beaucoup celle-ci. J aime bien ce traitement lumineux et surtout l impression de quiйtude partagйe par la brume lйgиre et la surface de l'eau bien lisse.
Parfait le rendu de la rive en arriиre plan pour fermer le cadre et йquilibrй la composition.
La photo fonctionne trиs bien comme tu nous la proposes, mais je pense qu'elle fonctionnerait aussi en recadrage carrй en enlevant la partie gauche. Ce ne serait plus exactement la mкme scиne mais зa devrait aussi marcher.

I think what makes this one work so well, is the atmosphere. Its an almost complete white-out.
very peaceful, and serene, almost meditation-mode.
