Beaucoup de Gitanes vivent au Rajasthan, particulirement dans la rgion du Shekawati et dans la zone du dsert du Thar, frontalire entre lInde et le Pakistan.
Le dsert de Thar appel aussi le Grand Dsert indien ou Mrusthali, le Pays de la mort est un dsert qui s'tend de l'tat du Rajasthan au nord-ouest de l'Inde au Pakistan o il porte le nom de dsert du Cholistan. C'est le septime dsert dans l'ordre de la superficie (200 000 km).

Many gypsies live in Rajasthan, especially in the Shekawati region and in the Thar desert area, at the border between India and Pakistan .
The Thar Desert, also known as the Great Indian Desert, is a large, arid region in the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent. With an area of more than 200,000 sq. km (77,000 sq. mi.) it is world's seventh largest desert. It lies mostly in the Indian state of Rajasthan, and extends into the southern portion of Haryana and Punjab states and into northern Gujarat state. In Pakistan, the desert covers eastern Sind province and the southeastern portion of Pakistan's Punjab province
