This boat is used for fishing Pesce Spaca (Swordfish).
Those who are on the top of the "tower" search for the Spada in the water. When spotted, man sitting on the front platform tries to catch it using harpoon - just like whales are cought.
Photo was taken on the waters of Strait of Messina, Sicily in the background.
