What an opening posting?
having kids myself the longing gaze in this child eyes has made for a stunning photo. The use of B&W in this instance was correct and makes the shot.

This is a nice photo tobegin with, full of innocence. Brand new eyes on the world.
The tight framing and composition works well and allow to focus on he's eyes.
