New Old Bridge, a photo from Bosniak-Croat, West

Photographer's Note

This is the famous Stari Most (Old Bridge) connecting the eastern (Bosniak) part of Mostar with the western (mostly Croat) part. The bridge was originally built in the years 1556 to 1566 by the ottoman architect Mimar Hajrudin (or Hayreddin) a pupil of the famous Mimar Sinan. In the war it was destroyed on 9th of November 1993. But this symbol of the connection between East and West was reconstructed and inaugurated on 23rd of July 2004.

Hi Roland,
a very famous spot and an often photographed bridge.
(and i`m gonna be here in late September) I like your low Pov where we can see the height of the bridge and the interesting architecture in the background. Tfs!

Hello Roland,
I visited the place when this was just a big hole and destruction was all over around. A fine view of the new bridge and a part of Mostar, all in clear colours.
Let's hope for a bright future for Bosnia-Herzogovina, but this seems far from obvious, with tensions mounting again.

Ich sehe noch die Fernsehbilder wie sie einstьrzt ...
Ein zugleich massives wie auch elegantes Gebдude, das jetzt hoffentlich wieder fьr Jahrhunderte dort steht. Aus Deinem Blickwinkel habe ich sie noch nicht gesehenund es ist schцn, wie sich der Ort in dem Brьckenbogen aufbaut.

Hi Roland. So you finally got to b&H and saw my favourite place. I suppose if you walked away from the river's tourist areas you saw buildings still scarred by the war.I took a few shots from the same spot- difficult to do well if the sky is bright.Nice exposure and very good retention of details both in shade and the lit areas.
