O antigo Congresso Nacional й um dos sнmbolos mais representativos da vida democrбtica no paнs e foi sede do Congresso Nacional atй 11 de setembro de 1973 (data do golpe militar no paнs). Foi declarado Monumento Nacional em 1976.

De 1990 a 2005, abriu a sede do Ministйrio dos Negуcios Estrangeiros, transferida do Palбcio da Moneda. Atualmente й o assento da Cвmara dos Deputados e dos Senadores.

O edifнcio й de linhas neoclбssicas sуbrias de influкncia francesa. A construзгo foi danificada em 1863 pelo grande fogo da Igreja da Sociedade de Jesus. Hoje, hб uma estбtua de mбrmore que representa uma Virgem, erguida em memуria das vнtimas do fogo.

Excellent photo of this congress building. It is very nicely surrounded by the many trees in the garden and you used them very well as a natural frame. The fountain is a charming addition to the foreground too.
