Photographer's Note
This is my first b&w post to TE, and it is not because I don´t like it... I just love colours and most of my pictures looks better with colours.. at least for me.
I like a lot to see b&w pictures and I feel that it is specially nice to enhance details and to increase contrast, playing a little bit with the image and... sometimes taking it a little bit more than real image. So, this is something I pp to overexpose the waters (sea was not great, because it was grey), calling all attentions to the two men and their canoe, and after it I work to convert it to b&w.
They are people who lives in the Guaratuba bay, with almost nothing at home, but their little agriculture and fishing, just enough to survive.
This canoe is handcarved in one piece of log. If you look with attention, you will sse that they have the canoe tail ahead and the bow at their back, since they use to drive it with the bow or with the tail ahead, it doesn´t matter.
Best regards,
Zeca

i'm a big fan of b/w, especially when it makes an image as effective as this one. They're the only two people in the world, floating on a cloud, yet so real-looking at the same time. i'm glad you were able to do something with the sea; it looks great! The boat is still connected enough to the water to keep it realistic. Any brighter and it wouldn't have worked. i wish there were just a tad darker waves on the far side of the boat to ground the rest of the image, but that's my preference. Other than that, great capture of the moment!!

No primeiro momento eu te fiquei bastante chocado. Estou acostumado com as cores vibrantes... Porem, a composicao ainda e do velho Zeca. Com certeza eu vou me acostumar e ate gostar. Ooops, nao vai me entender errado. Gostei desta aqui, ams prefiro a suas cores fortes.

Hola Zeca.
Saludos.

Really nice b&w. Very sharp with good tones. The expressions are great. The canoe and the men are well placed. The river makes a fine bg. Well done.

Jose,
I like the contrast used on the picture. The water is very white and this makes us concentrate attention on the fishermen. Well done!

Bom enquadramento e sombras.
Bom trabalho

Hi Zeca!
I'm a bit surprised to see a b/w photo as compared to the numerous previous ones in vivid colours. I should say that this one is a good one, but... But to me Zeca is the master of underwater and around the water richly coloured captures:-)))
All the best, my friend!

It really works great in b/w, Jose, I like it very much. Actually the fact that it is very white and contrastic, with almost no greys, makes the impact.

Nice picture in which the over-exposed water permit to see very well people on the pirogue. The composition is well done and we can see the movement to the right. The B&W treatment is very well done. It's quite scene.
Very well done.

Oi Zeca,
Bravo!
