Lady of Pilar Church, a photo from Minas Gerais, Southeast

Photographer's Note

Lady of Pilar Church:
Built on the begining of the Century XVIII and inaugurated in 1733, is a project of Pedro Gomes Chaves. In its ornamentation was applied 900 lbs of gold and 900 lbs of silver. There are inside four hundred angels carved and others gold pieces. In the sacristry is the Museum of Religious Art of the Pilar, with images, documents and some of the clothings used in the celebration of the Holy Sacrament. The carving of the chapel-mor was performed by Francisco Xavier.

Igreja Nossa Senhora do Pilar:
Construнda nos primeiros anos do Sйculo XVIII e inaugurada em 1733, й projeto de Pedro Gomes Chaves. Foram empregados em sua ornamentaзгo cerca de 400 quilos de ouro e 400 quilos de prata. O acervo ainda inclui magnнfica talha coberta de ouro e mais de quatrocentos anjos esculpidos. Em anexo, na sacristia, estб o Museu de Arte Sacra do Pilar, que reъne imagens, documentos e algumas das vestimentas usadas na celebraзгo do Santнssimo Sacramento. A talha da capela-mor foi executada por Francisco Xavier de Brito.

i love how the clouds are bursting from behind the church, and how the cross is hanging up high. good clearity and sharpness. its also good that you put people so we know the size of this church.

I just went thru your 3 churches posted lately and found them very interesting; Here the Lady of Pilar church has deep rich ocre colors; Other discete and rich red, blue and yellow colors gives the scenery something very special.

Interesting use of the angle on your photo, beautiful metering and capture of the blue sky in contrast with yellow buildings.Sharp, clear, and educational note, too bad church's not redone to look better.

Hi Paulo,
It is often difficult to get a nice photo of a church located among narrow city streets, but you managed to do it well here, as the church seems to grow naturally among these nice little houses.
I especially like the golden yellow light on your photo - it feels so warm and reminds us of relaxing summer days.
