Photographer's Note

Cathedral of So Pedro de Alcntara - Constructed with equipped rocks and granite, the church follows French the Gtico style of Century XVIII. On the altar of bronze and marble, it has a cross made with the black granite of the Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. In the center of the altar it has a marble tablet, weighing about three tons, on which they are the statues of Dom Pedro II and Dona Teresa Cristina, offered to the church for the Baronesa de So Joaquim. To the deep one of the chapel, in the laterals, meet the sculptures of the Princesa Isabel and of the Conde D'Eu. The cathedral was constructed in 1884 by order of Dom Pedro II, that it dedicated the church the So Pedro de Alcntara, patron saint of the Brazilian Empire.
