Photographer's Note

The most famous statue in Brasнlia is "The Justice", it is made in granite and was sculpted in 1961 by Alfredo Ceschiatti (the same sculptor of the angels inside cathedral). I will show another iconic sculpture of him after.
This statue is positioned in front of supreme tribunal of justice in Brazil, as you can see ahead, another fabulous palace I will show you after.
In these last years the members of tribunal building are in open war against executive power (Bolsonaro), this week he gave pardon to a deputy who menaced democracy and was doomed by the tribunal; at same this tribunal puts free Lula, despite big evidences.
When I visited the palace of justice it was closed because the politic war and there were fences and a police car at side to protect it from the mobs.

Hello Jorge,
A fine modernist sculpture in front of a modernist building. They go well together, but I prefer the monument.
From my distant perspective it's not so easy to follow Brazilian politics, but I am 100% sure that Bolsonaro is crazy and dangerous to the entire world, just like Trump. I would see Lula as the much lesser of two evils.

Politics are very 'messy' at the moment, in many countries but the slight indiscretions of having drinks with friends during lockdown is not quite on the same level as gross malpractice!

The sculpture is very well portrayed, sitting upright to portray correctness!
The blindfolded state is controversial.
Originally the Lady of Justice was not blindfolded to show her "maidenly form" was a guarantee of her impartiality, which renders the blindfold redundant.
But, the blindfolded Lady of Justice could be interpreted as being blind to the misdemeanours that are resulting or blind to previous knowledge so giving a fair judgement! Take your pick!

It is a lovely sculpture though and really sharply captured.

It must be so difficult to make anything in granite since it is such a hard material. Nice design and very thorough realization. Brasilia really present itself in your reportage as a beautiful and photogenic destination.
