Photographer's Note
We can choose five or more iconic buildings of Brasília, but for sure we can say the most symbolic building of the city is the national Congress, inaugurated in the same day of the city and visible at each day on TV, and ever hated by many as a symbol of the bad politicians.
Here I was at side of the Big Axis, the other half part of the big avenue is ahead, behind of the National Congress. It was a Saturday afternoon, it was empty.
The Congress skyscraper is composed by two twin buildings, but they aren't perfect retangular boxes. Inside them there are hundreds of offices, one for each deputy and senator. The lower part of the building is composed by the meeting rooms of the Senate and deputies chamber, these bowls you see are the roof of each one. Coincidence or not, the sunrise occurs exactly between these twin buildings in the day of the foundation of the city, April, 21th.
Why the grass is dry? Central Brazil has a climate divided in only two seasons: six months of rainy days and six months of drought. When I arrived in the city the drought was finishing.
Can you see the three men (four) seated in the chairs under the bowl ?
..............

Hello Jorge, an unusual view where the two tower blocks appear to be sitting in the giant saucer!
The size of the 'saucer' is huge, and I wonder how it was made.
Very interesting notes, thank you.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Jorge,
The architecture is impressive. The point of view is showing the details of the buildings. The light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Jorge, the three men under the bowl are clearly visible on the right. The perspective is spectacular, two buildings hated by everyone because they are political headquarters, but it is something that happens all over the world .. hehe ... Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Olá Jorge,
The distinctive style of Oscar Niemeyer jumped out when I saw this unique complex. The two towers reminded me right away of the General Assembly building of the United Nations here in NYC, in fact, they are almost identical. Niemeyer was also on the team of architects who designed that building, so it's no coincidence. The giant "saucer" really makes the scene unique, too. I know you were trying to place the complex in context to its surroundings, but personally I prefer a bit more focus on the architecture. I made a WS. :-) Take care!

Hello Jorge,
This is a very curious building, very modern in its shape and materials. My first impression was one of a giant cereal bowl, where two packets of cereal were standing inside it!
I found your notes about it being hated by many because it housed bad politicians. I wonder what their opinion would be if the politicians were good!
My w3arm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Jorge,
Seeing your photo made me wonder if the twin tall buildings were in the bowl or not.
I found other pictures on the internet that made it clear.
Seen from here it's a bit of an optical illusion. I suspect this was your intention.
Perhaps if you know or have seen these buildings in person, you will find my impression odd.
Fortunately you were not in Brasilia during the months of heavy rainfall.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Jorge
This is very weird, I'm not sure if I really like it or really hate it haha. I'll give them credit for doing something different. Its not too often we see Bowl shapes like that.

Hi Jorge,
I remember watching some photos from Brasilia but it was a while ago so I didn't remember any of it. Your reportage is great to refresh my memory. Quite extraordinary place with so many unique modern structures.
Very well done,

Hello Jorge,
Another famous part of the capital and a good example of modern architecture. I like the contrast between the round and straight lines of the buildings here and you captured them from a good angle.

Hello Jorge,
Interesting congress building, most parliamentary buildings I have seen are short and spread around. This one is composed of high rises.
