Photographer's Note

The city of Ouro Preto is famous for its magnificent colonial architecture. It was the first Brazilian city to be declared by UNESCO and Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 1980.
Ouro Preto also stands out for cultural activity. Every year it hosts the Winter Festival in Ouro Preto and Mariana - Arts Forum. In 2010, the Festival honored Master Athayde, a painter of great influence in the Baroque of Minas Gerais. Ouro Preto and Mariana were attractions like Roberta S, 14 Bis, Sa and Guarabira, Gabriel the Thinker and Chico Csar. Cultural activities like theater, music, crafts, literature, round table discussions and lectures on environment and reading incentives for children also entered the Festival calendar.
