Photographer's Note
I posted this photo first in 21/11/2005, and it was my post #10. The picture has 2.703 views, 90 points and was choosen by 2 members as a favorite. Its one of the few pictures taken with my old sony DSC-S60, a little camera snapshot of 4.0 megapixels. Why I decided to re-post it? Well, in the beggining of my TE's carrer, post processing was a big mistery for me, and I didn´t know how to add a simple framing. So, this picture hadn´t any pp to do the right corrections. Since that time, TE has been a nice school for me and the many posts, workshops and critiques made me a better usuary of the photoshop. So, since I consider this photo as one of my best pictures (post processed last year to have it in my home gallery as I am posting now), I´ve decided to re-post it in its actual version to my TE gallery.
In the post processing, I did the corrections on the white balance, colour saturations, brightness & contrast and I also used the median filter to eliminate noise, everything to have it equalized and eliminate the oe. I have this new version in a copy enlarged to 30cm X 40cm and it is nice even in this size.
About the scenery:
This is a scene from Tamanduá, a farm region in Southern of Brazil, nearby São Luiz do Purunã. The Spring is a good season to watch and capture heavy waters coming fast and going on even faster. Surprisingly, this tempest didn´t shower this cows, just turning around to pass away. I had the sun on my back, around 5pm, giving me colours on the foreground.
As soon as I saw it, I got out my car and run into the pastures to find this POV, leaving two fellows in the car without any single word. They found me crazy, but I am not! And you know! I am an amateur photographer like you and we are just waiting to take off the car to take a picture when we see anything like this. ;-D
Regards and thank you for your time visiting this re-post.

Oh, my gosh, Jose!!! Aside from that being one of the most menacing looking clouds I've ever seen, the way the bottom portion is so beautifully lit is just AWESOME!! I love the way you have divided that gruesome looking sky with the placidly grazing cattle. Man, what a shot! Kindest regards,

Hola Jose!! You most certainly have a winning landscape photo here on the theme of dynamic lighting!! I love these dark clouds on a sun filled field of grazing cows. I can imagine that some of these cows are wondering why the grass is darker up yonder?
After looking at your frame I have to say I like the width and height thickness being different in this setting. Good work Jose!

Hola Zeca.
This is the first time i see a reposted picture in TE.
Very impressive storm clouds, it really looks scary, the presence of the lighted part of the picture with the cows produces a good composition and contrast with the dark background.
Very well captured and it's nice to see such wonderful shot rescued from your portfolio.
Your framing goes very well with your photo.
Well done.
Wishing you a nice weekend.

Fabulous colours here Jose. I am glad you reposted this one. The cows seem oblivious to the pending storm which creates tension in the scene. The horizon is also well placed.

Hi Jose,
Almost looks like you created this by hand, like a painting. Those Brazilien skies are awesome, we don't have such dark tones here in the clouds. Bad weather must be on his way, that's for sure. But you also seems to catch some last sunlight on the field in front with some cows on it as major attraction point....i like that...great contrast..!!!
Have a nice weekend, Henk

Ola Jose -
I think "Tempest" is just a bit of a understatement. This image is about the light and I just love those black clouds and the bright FG light highlighting the cattle. We see this type of light a lot after a thunderstorm here in Denver, Colorado, but I never have a great subject to take advantage of it. Maybe if I was out and about during the TStorm I would find the subject but the storms are so violent I like staying inside. This is a real keeper and I would try printing it large. But before printing I would address what looks like some serious noise in the clouds. Well done!
Thank you for sharing.

i compared your two photos the older and this one.I must say that this one has more maturation and technique of the use of Photoshop.I like the dark sky and the little piece of the ground with the cows that is so brilliant.Excellent the management of the colours and the light. It's a superb capture Jose Augusto, one to be truely proud of.

Hello José,
What a sensational shot, one of the best I've seen on TE. This represents a very dramatic improvement of your presentation of an already good photo. The brilliant colors of the meadow and the foreboding, threateniing, fearful sky. It is two separate photos in one.
Well done, good friend. Have a restful weekend,

Hola Jose Augusto,

Victor

Hello Zeca,
you surely did a nice job with the pp. It's a wonder the cows are not running everywhere with such a storm coming up!!:D
Honestly, the lighting does not look really natural with this wide zone in the foreground which is very well lit and the colors well saturated while there is this huuuuuuuuge cloud coming up and darkening the whole scene. I guess there were some spotlights up there?
Very nice job! It's a pleasure for the eyes!

Oi Zeca,
