Photographer's Note
A closeup here of the Moreton Island Cat (MI Cat) ferry sitting under the Story Bridge during last weekend's Brisbane Riverfire. This was cropped from a larger image, but I found this section the most exciting. There is a man standing ontop of the bridge just right of centre, to give you some scale.
For more information of the event and a larger view of the Story Bridge with fireworks, see my pervious two posts.
Have a good night.
Matt

Great shot again, Matt. You have definitely established yourself as one of the premier photographers on this site for Australia. I have a question however, what aperture and shutter speeds did you use? Congrats and keep up the good work :).

That's some serious fireworks! What is the cause for celebration? I really like how the bridge to seems to be raining fire and thanks for the tip about the man on the bridge, it does show the scale well.

This is fantastic night photography, Matthew. The fireworks in the background creates a very unusual curtain ... creatively done! Overall your lighting management here is superb and good cropping. Excellent work! tfs

As tunning nigh shot for sure, Matthew, very impressive. I really like your inclusion of the boat with mysterious lights of its own in the foreground against this Niagara of fireworks in the back.
Frame wise I would prefer a regular 35mm format rectangle rather than the squarish thing you've got going here, but that is a niggle from a crabby old gaijin from Tokyo, mate.
Lovely picture. Kudos!

Hi Matt. Another fine river shot with plenty of colour and reflections that really make the photo come to life. Excellent work. TFS. Murray.

Nice shot Matthew. A really original fireworks shot. The composition is excellent, especially with the silhouette of the ferry and your "under the bridge" crop. Perfect exposure resulting in great color in the fireworks and all the points of light on the ferry and in the city above the bridge.
That man really surprised me too, without him standing there I would have thought this bridge is much, much smaller. I thought that ferry looked a little small, but just my perception of it's size against what I thought was a smaller bridge. Thanks for the reference in your note.
Nice work.

Mathew I love your series on the River Fire. Makes me wish id gone to the effort of taking my camera down to the spectacle last week :)
This one is one of the most original fireworks picture ive seen - so much mood and atmosphere in the composition and lighting.
Great work! Keep posting them..

We discovered what Australia could provide as fire works from a bridge at last Olympic games in Sydney... That was great !
This one is spectacular too and you have done well in framing and composition with the boat in foreground.
I like it

Hello Mathew,
There is an abstract element, a mystique here that is hard to explain. I love the dark silhuette of the boat, with the blue light, the stars created in your lens by refracted light, and yes, the man standing on the bridge. Wonderful shot!
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Matthew,
This is an excellent shot. I like the contrast between light and dark, and all the subtle colors and reflections. I think it would be even better had there been more smoke to hide the buildings, but you can't always have it all.
Best regards,
Lamberto
