Photographer's Note
This is number 2 in a series of about ten images I will upload into TE from the Brisbane City Riverfire. For a greater range of information about this event see my previous image. Riverfestival is the celebration of our great waterway, the Brisbane river which forms such a great part of our lives in this city. Exposure was 4 seconds, tripod used. Looking west from New Farm to The Story Bridge and a part of the CBD. 10 skyscrapers, 3 bridges and several barges were ignited by thousands of kg of fireworks. An amazing sight!
For some scale, the bridge is 80m tall, the background skyscraper to the left is 207m tall and the boat is the massive Moreton Island car ferry, tonight full of sightseers.

Beautiful display of fireworks. Indeed a lot of powder to light up the sky. Nice exposure and colour saturation for a night shot. The view is excellent and the reflections on the water add to the beauty of the night. Thanks Matt.

Hi Matt. This is a spectacular night photo. Well timed to maximise the lighted sky. Brisbane is getting a lot of great press these days and it is easy to see why southerners are flocking north. As always interesting notes. One day you may get to alter this already fabulous skyline even more! TFS, Murray.

Wow, spectacular shot! The colour is just amazing in this, and the exposure seems perfect. I like the inclusion of the bridge and the boat, which give this some depth and a foreground layer, which makes it a much more successful photo. Nice work!

Hi Matthew,
Wonderfully controlled and done .. the reflection of all those urban lights along with the fireworks is spectacular against the black night .. very nice.
Great point of view .. where are you shooting from?
take care,
John

Another great "classic" fireworks shot Matthew. Exposure is spot on, creating excellent color tones. Sharp and detailed with really good composition and perfect timing, catching the double burst. I also like the colored smoke in the air. Just a great looking shot.
Great work.

Hi Matt,
Having looked at the series this is the one I prefer, your pov is great, the light explosion you caught here is the most interesting and shows as well nice colors to reflect, and the boat offers a good foreground well detached from the bottom frame.
Good luck for the game, you need 12 tries to do better than the blacks ;-)
Have a nice day, JY

Hi Matt, i guess this is perhaps the first time i let you a comment on a picture of you ... but i had already looked in your gallery, as a lover of night shot your australian one are unmissable :)
This is a very good one, full of color, an explosion of color, light, in sky, reflected in water ... i love to let my eyes run on this compo ... I guess this was a fast shutter speed, perhaps slowing it would have fixed better colors and contrasts ... i have one picture in paris of fireworks, perhaps the thing the most difficult to shoot.
Excellent, i love it

Hi Matthew,
What a fantastic series of pictures! Strange that this one had the least critics once it is the one I like the most. The square format make it original and the composition with the boat on the foreground and the 2 very defined fireworks 'flowers' on one side of the frame work as a eye catch. Excellent work!

Flavia

Hello Matthew,
This is indeed an amazing slow shutter photography. The colors and reflection are attractive. Happy holidays! Danilo

Probably the image I prefer most out of this series. Your composition is good for all, but for this photo the detail and colours mesh together the best. (And everything stayed still)
