Photographer's Note

The Pines historic house in Loxton was built in 1909. It is an example of a classic South Australian architectural style. The walls are built from randomly sized sandstone pieces. The corners and sides of windows and doors are of brick (painted in this case but often left natural). The roof is corrugated iron.
Typical of the era the kitchen, the part on the right, was kept separate from the main building in case of kitchen fires, although that was more common for timber houses.
