Photographer's Note
The old sheep station at Willandra (now a national park) was so huge that they had outstations for looking after the sheep. At the Merton outstation only piles of rubbish remain and in the case of this photo the all important discarded empty beer bottles.

Hi Ian
I have a photo very similar to this which it is possible I may one day post. Such rubbish dumps can be found on most rural properties where there are no weekly rubbish collections and can be great places to find unique old bottles many of which will have changed colour under the hot sun. I have quite a collection sourced from an outback rubbish dump. In this location it would appear that blue and purple bottles have already been removed - and what remains are mostly beer bottles many of which have been broken. Still this photo is great with the rich brown colours enhanced by the sun and almost blocking out the rusted cans. Good close-up. Cheers, Marlene

Hi Ian, no guesses for what got these fellas through their hard day's work! I like the rusty tones as they contrast with the green grass. Interesting composition - and title! TFS and I hope you have a good weekend, Lisa
