Photographer's Note
Over the next few weeks I will present to you some of the hundreds of images I took over the last half hour of the Brisbane Riverfire, an annual celebration of our magnificent city. The Story Bridge had over 3000kg of fireworks set off it for 30 continual minutes, an absolute thrill for the hundreds of thousands of spectators who lined the riverbanks. The F1-11 fighter/bomber jets heralded the start and finish of the event with a 'dump and burn' (sets fire to a trail of jet fuel to make a sort of torch behind the plane at high speeds). My ears are still ringing. What a fantastic event!
Sorry I could not fit the whole bridge in, I was too close to it, and I wished the Tangalooma Catamaran would have stayed still, but I still think this one was worth a post!
Have a great day
Matt

I love the pastel colors and the splendid reflections on the water. They seem to be a trademark of yours. Your pov is perfect and I think had you been where you could get the whole bridge you would have cropped it like this. It puts you in the action very nicely. The slightest bit of motion blur adds to the scene is a positive way I think. A wonderful image I look forward to the rest.

Hi Matt. You show us some of the fireworks so popular in cities around the world now on special occasions. Great reflections off the river. TFS. Murray.

The Riverfire was actually awesome. I was in South Bank so I could only guess the fireworks from the Story Bridge. I didn't take my camera because I wanted to see it with my eyes. This is a great picture that you took. TFS.

Hello Matthew,
Beautiful photo, I love the composition and colours both in the sky and reflecting in the water. Fireworks are not easy to photograph and you have done a magnificent job of it. I really like the inclusion of the boat as well, it adds to the overal composition. Thanks for sharing,
Jules

G'day Matt.
Very beautiful. Also very under-rated. Great colour and exposure. The movement in the catamaran isn't a problem and couldn't really be controlled anyway. Great series you have going here. Well done.
Regards from Romania, Steve.

Hi Matthew (& sorry for the double post)
I like the colour & graphism here. Superb contrast & reasonable sharpness. The motion blur of the fg boat was unavoidable. Only 4 more days in Bne for me, then I go back to Korea on Friday morning. The violet fireworks & yellow lights on the Storey Bridge go well together. Tfs!

But you got an exquisite photo in here. The fireworks just look like a permanent palm decoration of the Story Bridge. And the catamaran is not that bad as it adds life to the river. Lucky the ones on it that night.

Hi Matthew,
I like your serie of Brisban´s photos. It is not easy to capture firework but your shots are very nice, sharp and clear. I choosed this one because I like this composition with blure ship in front.
Best regards,

Hello Matt
A delightful capture. I know how difficult it is to capture fireworks with non-DSLRs, but you done an excellent job here. Clarity is top notch as we see the fireworks above the bow of the bridge. Yes, it would have been better if the catamaran was still, but on giving a longer look, the blurred motion of the catamaran does add an extra edge to the image as well. Good work Matt

Angshu
