Photographer's Note

Brisbane, Queensland, for the top of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs.

A city cat, a sleek and fastpaced river ferry makes a turn past the city botanic gardens, the dark patch to the left. Over the last few years, Brisbane's skyline has exploded - and get ready for more, Vision Tower will become Brisbane's CBD icon at about 70 floors. It will also house our first observation deck, joining Rialto Tower in Melbourne, Centrepoint Tower in Sydney and Q1 on the Gold Coast as Australia's obervation points. I will be up there as soon as it's done, to bring you the views..you'll just have to wait until 2009. The current tallest is the Riparian Plaza tower in the centre, at 254m.

Matthew the ferry is a nice point where to start in this picture. The streak left by the shutter speed is great and even the reflections of the ferry look on the water. The skyline of this city is quite impressive. The buildings seem very tall and modern. A nice composition under the ight. Good lights, colours and contrast throughout. Thanks Matt :-)

Hi Matthew,
That's a very nice nighttime skyline view of Brisbane. The colors are very good and the photo is very sharp. I like the compo using the highrise CBD as background for the river with the City cat passing by. The trees of the Botanic gardens on the left create more depth.
What exposure time did you use with this photo?

You're making me homesick! I left Brisvegas on May 12 last year. I like the ghostly motion blur of the citycat ferry, contrasting against the pinpoint sharpness of the bg highrise. Good colour & repetition of the yachts. Tfs!

Hi there Matthew. You've done a very good job of this night time shot with your exposure, and either prevented or eliminated noise well. The blur created by the ferry is effective against the solid blockiness of the buildings. It would be interesting to see what your exposure (and camera) is in this shot. Might be a good idea to turn on the exif info when you upload.

This is one of the best POV, if not the best, in Brisbane. Your picture is excellent with beautiful colours and good sharpness. What is missing is that little piece of info such shutter speed and aperture which I particularly would like to know. Well done.

A wonderful nighttime cityscape. I love the watertrail through the scene. I added you as a favorite and promise to be back soon. I had no idea that you were only 18 years old. Very impressive to have such a great portfolio at so young. This picture reminds me of a robertosalguero type picture. Very well done.
