Photographer's Note
This is a picture from Grand Teton National Park in the morning. You can see the majority of the Teton Range here capped off with Grand Teton 13,770 ft (4197m). I was driving south on the main park road and saw this scene on my right and decided to walk over to the horses. Of course I thanked the horses for sitting in such a picturesque setting! There are several dude ranches within Grand Teton and this is the outskirts of one. I think it's the Triangle X ranch as I recall.
I took this around 8:15am and I was dealing with an annoying shadow because the sun was behind me and that early in the morning the sun was still rather low. The shadow that is remaining is from a fence I was standing next to.

Hi Stephen,
Apparentely you managed to get rid of the annoying shadow and got yourself a very impressive panorama over this very beautiful landscape. The composition is very good with the line in the FG leading up to and curving into the mountain range.

This looks like a quintessential shot of the American west, with the wide open grasslands leading to the mountains. The horses add an important bit of interest to this, really bringing it too life. Well done!

A real wild west feel to this one. The panorama with the mountains in the background is very impressive. The horses certainly adds to that. Compositionwise, you make good use of the diagonal in the front. A quite large part of the field does not contribute with much. Perhaps a tighter crop or a lower angle would have made the pic even stronger? Not ot say that it is not strong as it stands.
Best,
Mikkel
PS: I'm don't find the 'annoying shadow' distracting.

Hi Stephen,
Lovely setting and nice warm lighting from the morning sun. Interesting that they allow domesticated horses in a National Park. The background mountains are majestic. Well captured and composed. Well done! tfs

An incredible view of those mountains in the background. I think the horses really make this photo amazing. It evokes a very peaceful mood as well. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Steve,
Wonderful work!! The fine detail throughout is particularly noticable in the FG grain. The horses add attractive interest to this braod sweep to the Tetons. The colors are very natursal and lovely; that closest horse literally gleams.

Hi Stephen,
Nice landscape with beautiful colours with such a light, well the foreground but maybe it was better with one horse less far in your shot.

What a lovely scene with the horses grazing in the pasture and those mountains in the background. The early light is very pleasant and far from being a nuisance the long shadow of the fence is helping the composition along perfectly with its strong diagonal. well done

Hi Stephen,
This beautiful landscape with all the horses reminds me to the old fashion Westerns. That were the first movie from my youth. You present this memory in a great composition.

Very super use of atmospheric perspective, Stephen! The saturated colors in the foreground work so nicely with the faded mountains behind. The textures keep my eye wandering around. Looks like you had a fun trip! I'm only about 4 hours from here; next time call me, and I'll come up!

Hello Stephen,
it could not get anymore rural or pastoral(is it an english word?) than that. The light is superb, the morning sun gives that golden tone we lie to get up early for...Moreover, those mountains in the back are prefectly finishing the composition
I like how you saturated those colors in the foreground compared to the background, which is more flat.
Good evening,
Marc
