Photographer's Note

These days have been really hot in Nashville, Tennessee, where I live; high temperatures have been a constant in much of the United States this summer (global warming? what global warming?), with the termometer reaching close to 40 celsius everyday. Heat is not that enjoyable when you live on a graduate student budget, and can't afford to fix the car's air conditioner. The positive side of it is that getting in the car under these conditions can help you lose some wait for free.

I thought that this springtime view of a mountain stream in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park would be refreshing under current circumstances. It's easy for me to be carried away to cool mountains, shady paths and chilly trout waters, and that doesn't happen only when the heat wave is in.
