Mabry Mill II, a photo from Virginia, South

Photographer's Note

I posted a similar picture back in November with a slightly different framing that showed less water and more sky. Some people felt that they wanted to see more water for the reflection. So I am posting this version to see what others may think.

Personally, I liked the blue sky contrasting against the bright orange colors. What do you think?

This is one of those photos that people hang in their homes. It's gorgeous!
It's a classic right away.

nice reflections and painting like colors but i think there may be a bit of green cast. certainly a good photo though.

this is like a painting ... excellent shot..
good composition... i just felt the blue sky dint go with the color scheme .. but still its great...i was thinking how would it look if it was a bit underexposed ..just one stop ...

Hi Ned - I can't decide which version I like better, though I have a slight preference for this one because of the reflections, even idf the other version has more of the autumn colors and more blue sky, there is still enough of the majestic tree here.

Watup Ned, This photo sure got my attention. The colors are beautiful and the reflections are impressive in this Autumn shot. After looking at it for a few, I was sure I could see the ripples in the water moving. I do prefer the Nov. version better. Well done.

Hey Ned. I can't believe I've never even heard of this place. It's awesome and I hereby plan a trip to see it this spring. The rippled reflection adds so much to this. Do you remember how far down the parkway you ended up going to see this? Awesome shot Ned!

Wow Ned, this is stunning. I like this one better since your previous post looked too saturated. While the building is sharp, I like the softness in the trees.

Wonderful piece of American history seen in this photo. The autumn colors are fantastic and the details to this gentler form of industry are perfect. It is amazing how these old mills have such a reassuring appeal.

One of my grandsons is named Mabry. So this photograph has special meaning.

This is a beautifully composed picture that captures excellent light against the woodwork of the old millhouse and wheel. The reflection of the building from across the pond gives a much better balance to the whole of the landscape than the eye being drawn up towards the blue sky - but that's an amateur’s opinion.

I say secomd time's charm..
