Photographer's Note

Re-post of a picture from downtown Los Angeles.

In the same block as my hotel The Biltmore was this charming bookstore on South Grand Avenue. It was as cut from a movie and displayed, in my eyes, a very concentrated variety of American culture. I really wanted to document and show that these stores exist, so I asked for permission to take "a couple of shots".

But the proprietor morosely directed me back to the street. Not even through the door he allowed me a picture, so I had to go close to the window to get my one shot, while he watched me with great suspicion.

On the other hand, I might not be the first entering his store without the intention of buying anything.

I'm re-posting, as I'm trying to give the interior of this charming store justice and evidently I didn't succed with the first image - so I try again!

New post pro: A seriously tight cropping to get rid of a lot of elements; brightness +30 & contrast +20; hue -5 & saturation +5; extra brightness & hue for the proprietor (magic wand); used burn tool on most overexposed areas; resized; sharpened; framed and saved for Web.
