Photographer's Note

Ive been wanting to post a photo to show support for the people of Ukraine this past week, but I didnt think I had anything suitable in my archives. Then I remembered a walk in the East Village area of Manhattan several years ago.

There is a large Ukrainian population in some areas of NYC, including in the East Village, and "Veselka" (rainbow in Ukrainian) has been a popular eatery there for many decades. It was founded in 1954, and this past week people have been lining up to eat there and show support for Ukraine.

This photo is not the best, but I do like the contrast of the people eating outside, and the ones painted on the faade. Some tenement buildings are reflected in the windows, too.

My heart breaks as I watch the news, and it also makes me angry. There is no reason for so much suffering and destruction. I can only naively hope that it will end sooner rather than later

No points please...
