Photographer's Note

In the northern section of Madison Square Park there’s a lovely reflecting pool, and depending on where you stand, it’s possible to capture some of the interesting nearby architecture in the water.

Here you get a glimpse of the New York Life Building and its signature gold roof. This Gothic Revival tower opened in 1928. It has 40 floors; 34 floors of office space, topped by a pyramid-shaped, gilded, six story roof. The roof consists of 25,000 gold-leaf dipped terracotta tiles, with a fineness of 22 karats.

The New York Life Building is both a national and city landmark. The black building beside it houses offices and showrooms, and was built in 1974.

Hi Brenda
It's lovely to see this perfect, undisturbed reflection but what I like the most is the combination of the reflected architecture, the water plants and the three women on benches. Most photographers would be tempted to just shoot the pool but adding the bit at the top with the people was such a good idea!

Hi Brenda

Fantastic reflections and good to include all of the mirrored skyscraper. The 3 ladies on 3 park benches add a central focal point in the bg. Good sharpness too. The green water plants add depth and layering. Tfs!

This is a very well executed shot, capturing that tall building on the water, with all its details and colors intact. Also, it's very clever to leave some context in the upper portion of the shot. The detail of the three women sitting on the benches adds interest as well. Nice job, Brenda!

Great reflections, but what makes the composition really good is the slice of ground at the top with the persons on the benches. The black tower is not as beautiful as the New York Life Building, but it does great service to this photo.

Hello Brenda,
This pool is truly wonderful ..... reflecting the 'sky-line' of New York.
I do find these ladies quite 'comical' , sitting cross-legged on the bench simultaneously busy looking at something :-)
I do like the water plants hanging up-side-down on the water in the WS and the striking golden roof of 22 KARATS !! That's a lot of gold to dip.

hello Brenda, I liked the Life Building in NYC very much. The golden dome looks surprising. I didn't know that it is covered with real gold. Nice inclusion of the people sitting on the bench, but maybe I prefer the inverted picture in WS. It looks surreal with the green plants on the buildings. Attractive place - Madison Square. Flatiron is also nearby.

Both pictures nicely captured and inverted.
Personally I prefer the view with the people as you chosen to post as main photo. But, I tend to invert reflections when not much seen on the surrounding.
Anyway, I enjoy those two photos, cheers.

Hi Brenda,really a very original idea, I really like the cut, with the inclusion of people at the top and lots of room for reflections. Also noteworthy is the inverted version in the WS. An almost centenary building, built at the dawn of the great crisis of 1929, and a symbol of that era of an inflated economic boom followed by a great depression. Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano

Hello Brenda, this really is a reflecting pool!
It was the bright green of the plants that first attracted my attention, and then I saw the wonderful reflection of the skyscraper and the trees.
I like that you included the people sitting on the benches, it gives scale to the size of the pool.

The main photo shows everything you saw: the young ladies on the benches at the top and everything that could be seen above them is visible in the reflection in the pool.
Beautiful with the different plants spread over the water surface.

Lep refleks na vodi i mesto sa klupama, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom, perpsketivom i uhvacenim trenutkom sa posetiocima.
Lepa fotografija u radionici i pokazana zgrada.

I just love this!
I think you have composed it perfectly, the figures giving us a sense of place and orientation; then the view into the pool is amazing! It appears to have such depth as we travel down to the top of the skyscraper! (That statement seems like a contradiction in terms!!!)
I think the fact that you have the surface flowers just above the reflection adds to this sense of depth!

I am happy to are back after 55 days absent, through a small operation, but back the old man
Pleasant panorama view about the part of the city.

Hi Brenda,
very creative composition with the main subject being inverted in the pond.
The reflection is nicely interrupted with th eplants which introduce a nice confusion, merging the reflected world with the reality.
The most interesting aspect for me are the three benches with three ladies all of them on their phones. It seems these days people don't go to the park for a walk or read a book but to use their phones...
