Swing States

I haven't had time for TrekEarth for the past week because I was glued to television almost day and night to follow the CNN report of the US election.

After I got more and more deja vu from 4 years ago on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday with Trump who was going to win, some hope began to emerge again from the early morning of November 4 on a ForBiden Whitehouse for Trump.
Increasingly, the focus was on Philadelphia in Pensylvenia as the state from which the decisive electors would come.

Coincidentally, Lars and I were 4 years ago in Philadelphia just before the Democratic Convention where Hillery was elected as the Democratic candidate for the 2016 elections
So this is a great opportunity to consult my archive and make a selection of relevant election photos.

The 1st photo is a triptych featuring some of the Democratic donkeys who came to Philadelphia on the occasion of the Convention.
In the middle the donkey from Georgia, a state where the difference is so small that a recount is needed to verify that Biden really won this swing state.
Moreover, it is the state that can still ensure that the Democrats get a majority in the Senate in January.

The 2e photo shows how banners were put up all over the city to announce the convention.
At that time, almost everyone in town was still convinced that Hillery Clinton would be the first female president of the USA. The nightmare didn't start until a few months later.

The 3rd photo shows a call to the Registrated Pennsylvania Voters.
I wonder how Marijuna has survived the past 4 years.
