Photographer's Note
Please check the TE Beta version with so much more detail New One World Trade Center.
I know some TE members will not appreciate or like this photo because of the strong distortions, but thats ok.
The reason why I enjoy these shots so much is largely because they're different. Why not show something that we're not use to seeing rather than the usual same old same old. Yes, it may not be your taste, but at least its a different perspective.
The New One World Trade Center is here on the far left, and the new white Oculus building on the bottom right is a beautiful addition to this new area. The Oculus is shaped like a Whale's Tail, and its dwarfed by all the surrounding buildings, yet its still quite large.
Due to the events of 9/11, this new Memorial is not only emotional but also beautiful and tastefully done to honor those who lost their lives. Whomever designed this memorial has done a stunning job, full credits to all those involved. This is a must see when travelling through the city.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Bonjour Craig
Tu as réussi tout un bel effet de lentille avec cette composition très bien réussie sous une lumière parfaite du mois de juin.L'Oculus paraît très bien dans cette jungle de gratte ciel.

Hi Craig,
After a rather long absence from TE, I am now determined to make a come back! I've been missing you all and all of your photographs so much!
And TE postings don't come much better than this one with its fascinating and informative note and your photograph's fine bold composition and lovely light and colours.
No, I don't find any distortions here at all distracting. Probably because your super-wide "city" lens is a "rectilinear" lens and so doesn't suffer from the curved distortions of a "fisheye" lens. And it is lovely to be able to see all the interesting features you mention all within this single frame. I love the "sheen" on the tall building on the left and how the Oculus stands out so brightly against its surroundings. The light and colours are delightful, your exposure bang-on and, as always, your details and sharpness are exquisite.
Fabulous!
Kindest Regards,
John.

Hello Craig
I don`t mind the distortion, but you surprise me when it comes to the horizontal format, I would think a vertical format would work better. However, looking at this splendid photo, I like it a lot just as it is:) Did you take the trip to the top? We did in 2015. It offers a stunning view. Of course, nice to see the Oculus building too. The Norwegian architect-group Snøhetta has designed parts of the 9/11 museum. Perfect management of light and colours. I like it:) Thanks.
PS! I`m a bit busy this weekend, but I will get back next week to some of your latest posts.
Greetings, Erling

Hello Craig, a fabulous shot; actually I haven't seen that many pictures of the New One World Trade Center, so this tells me a lot.
It is great the way that you managed to get all those skyscrapers in frame.
Excellent work.

Hello Craig,
This is great! I like how you got One World Trade Center and the Oculus together in one frame. Then there's the older buildings in between them, and the edge of the memorial at the bottom of the frame. Together with a beautiful, blue sky this is a very eye-catching shot.

Hi, Craig.
Superb composition, with this new giant among the high skyscrapers that surround it and that your faint image highlights, a great POV with the perspective of One World Trade Center in the foreground.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent sharpness.
Well done. I love.
Enjoy the weekend.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Craig,
Great photo of this famous part of New York. I know how difficult it is to capture the new WTC tower, the Oculus and the other towers in one photo. Actually, I didn't manage it at all. The sharpness and clarity are superb and the distortions make the place even more impressive. Great photo work!

Hello Craig,
This is a really neat photo of the New One World Trade Center shot with an extremely wide angle lens. The three-point perspective is accentuated with the towers appearing to converge high in the sky. I haven't been as close to the building as you have, but I did take close up shots of the two World Trade Center Buildings in the 1990s. The black building in the rear right is the Millennium Building that was badly damaged but restored after the 9/11 tragedy.
In the photo of mine that you critiqued, the staircase is laid out horizontally. Each "floor" is an actual "room." The woman in the photo (my wife) simply walked into room 3-4 as I was getting ready to take the photo.

Bulent

Bonjour, cher ami Craig,
Quand je vois ces villes aux immeubles pointés vers le ciel qui prennent de plus en plus d'importance, que l'environnement urbain s'inspire des architectures audacieuses, je contemple et admire !
Très belle présentation.
Amitiés.

Hello Craig,
Ready the distortions of the scene is the result of the very wide lens you have used, but the result is very impressive as we can see a lot of elements in the scene. The brilliant light and colour management enhance even more the details of the image.

Hello Craig,
For some reason I don't mind the distortions as much this time as occasionally in other photos. I don't know why my eyes accept this more. Maybe it has something to do with the very low perspective making my brain feel that the towers are leaning naturally. Anyway, there's a lot of interesting architecture of all kinds, many styles living harmoniously together, including some nice reflections.
Have a nice weekend,
Gert

Hello Craig,
I didn't find these distortions upsetting at all because all the buildings are drawn together purposefully, not like when one side is vertical and the other slightly leaning, which looks as if it should be corrected. The images are sharp and the whole scene has a lovely, artistic quality.
There are some fine reflections and light/shadow contrasts all contributing to the overall effect.
Have a great w/e,
Bev :-)

An imposing upwards POV of the new place erected at the (already) historic place of the Twin-Towers, Craig.
Distortion is no special problem, the human-eyes can "translate" this while looking at such sight, the camera is a whole different and we know to accept this.
Contrast and clarity, is what matter most - and superbly done here.
Enjoy a nice weekend,
Ike

Hi Craig
bel effet du grand angle , le dynamiste et le cadrage des bâtiments moderne s'imposant contre le bâtiment plus ancien, vraiment une belle réalisation, je me demande si je n'ai pas encore une de Varsovie du même style :-)
Belle soirée

Hello Craig,
Some buildings do like each other so much that they grow together :)
The photo is entirely very nice and its quarter in the lower right corner is a picture that can exist by itself.
Very well done!

Hi Craig,
Wonderful super wide angle view of this famous place. That building is fairly new so it is not so familiar yet. I think architects have succeeded well here.

Hello Craig
Interesting idea and well executed with this excessive distortion of the perspective. I struggled some time with the question if I do like it or not. At the end I came to the conclusion you can find in the workshop I did with you experiment. More verticals.
Have a good week.

Hi Craig,
The exaggerated perspective and lens barrel distortion does not bother me at all. Verticals have been smartly placed in the centre and sharpness and perspective are perfect. The fg row of trees & people add scale. Tfs!

I like distortions created by lens, or, at least, I don't mind so much about them. nice sample of the architecture with many samples and the special lower and closer view of the new WTC. there is a strip of glasses with different hues, I was thinking what would the the reason.
nice compo. TFS.
take care
