Strolling in the Mercer Slough Nature Park i saw the two kayakists crossing the canoe trail,enjoying the beauty of the slough

Mercer Slough Nature Park

Just minutes from downtown, the Mercer Slough Nature Park is the largest of Lake Washington’s remaining fresh water wetlands and is one of Bellevue’s largest parks. Explore over 320 acres of wildlife habitat, agriculture, and freshwater wetland ecosystems on 7+ miles of trails including a unique canoe trail. The blueberry farm sells fresh seasonal produce. The beautifully restored historic Winters House is Bellevue’s only public building on the National Historic Register. It serves as the home of the Eastside Heritage Center, offers historic tours, and is available for meeting and event rentals. The Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center is a partnership with the Pacific Science Center focusing on freshwater wetland ecology, provides a park visitor center (open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and offers programs for adults, youth and families.

The Periphery Trail is an asphalt path circling the perimeter of the park. The trail is ideal for jogging, bicycling, rollerblading and strollers. A component of the Lake Washington Bike Loop and Mountains to Sound Greenway, the path provides connections to Newcastle Beach Park, Seattle, Factoria, Renton, and beyond.
The Winters House Visitor Center provides interpretive exhibits, information, rental facilities, restrooms, trailhead parking, and is home to the Eastside Heritage Center.
The Heritage Trail, located behind the Winters House, meanders past remnants of old greenhouses, though an abandoned rhododendron nursery, and parallels the historic blueberry fields.
The Mercer Slough Blueberry Farm provides restrooms, trailhead parking, seasonal produce sales, and u-pick blueberries.
The Bellefields Trail loops through upland forest, scrub-shrub wetland, and open meadow habitats to the edge of the slough channel.
The Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center offers educational classes on wetland ecology.
The Canoe Trail allows visitors a unique beaver’s-eye view of the Mercer Slough. Canoe rentals are available at Enatai Beach Park through Cascade Canoe & Kayak Centers. The City offers guided trips on Saturday mornings, May-September.

Hello Danos,

This is a nice view of these kayakists on this narrow stretch of water which looks peaceful. There is good light and I like the reflections in the water and the disturbances of created by the passage of the kayaks.

That is a lovely photo from your high POV. Very calm and tranquil atmosphere presented, perfect for a leisurely kayaking. The length of the waterway is providing fine depth to the composition. Dense vegetation all around and its green colours is very soothing to our city eyes. Beautiful nature. Nice photo with opulent colours and light, I like a lot. Thanks for sharing.

One day I hope to visit the ancient places in Greece, thanks for the note.
A fine depth down-stream with the two rowers work their way up-stream, it is so notable on water surface to realize. Light gave a good texture to the green on sides, and the sky reflected marvelousely.

τι όμορφη αίσθηση γαλήνης και κίνησης μεταδίδει αυτή η φωτογραφία σου. Μου αρέσει πάρα πολύ η σύνθεση, ο τρόπος που η βλάστηση πλαισιώνει το ποτάμι στενεύοντας στο πάνω μέρος του κάδρου και ανοίγοντας προς την κατεύθυνση των κωπηλατών. A wonderful shot from this viewpoint with something extra dynamic sports shot, nice juxtaposition having both interests that stand out against the green setting. Hi Danos,

You're capturing well this place by a good composition, a good perspective and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the kayakists crossing the river surrounded to rich nature with waterplant. The looks like relaxing rowing kanoe. It's effective for the reflection projected to the river and shadow. Here has a good environment, although it's suburbs near to Seatle.
