Evening light on Beech Fork Lake, a photo from West Virginia, South

Photographer's Note

Taken this past June before it got so hot it is misery to be outdoors. This is the Beech Fork Lake marina at Beech Fork State Park in Wayne County, West Virginia. The sun was beginning to set and we were about to leave for home when I stopped to catch this shot. I loved the light.

Hello Shelly,indeed the evening light is most appealing,it adds a lovely atmosphere to the whole scene,I rather like the way that the boats seem to make a cartwheel effect in the harbour.
The foliage makes a good frame for the shot.

I like the photo, with its very subdued highlights and the use of the upper foliage as a framing device in tandem with the grass. And the fanned shape produced by the moored boat makes a good focal point. A lovely capture of dusk's atmosphere.

This is a fine view of this charming marina . the light is splendid . I like the POV and teh composition with the branches on the top .

The richness of the colours in this composition really appeal to me and the white and red details add such perfect contrasts to the cool blues and greens. There is the merest hint of warmth in the evening light. Beautiful, calm image. Warm regards Rosemary

The light is beautiful and I like the peaceful atmosphere. Very nice marina. The branches of a tree make nice framing. lovely place.
