Photographer's Note
The Damnation Creek Trail within Del Norte Redwoods State Park combines the glory of coastal redwoods with the ruggedness of northern California coast. I ventured on this trail looking for blooming rhododendrons but did not have much luck. However, I didn't go home totally empty handed as I really enjoyed the beach at the trail's end. This scene is naturally photogenic and I hope to return soon when I can get better lighting. Thanks for looking.

B&W is a difficult genre as so often with landscape it is the colour that draws the eye. Here the subject is perfect for your choice Mike. Form and texture are the main focus of the image. Your SS has rendered the water beautifully and the sharp rocks appear to be swathed in a mobile mistiness. A very fine shot with a simple and ethereal beauty. Warm regards Rosemary

Hi Mike,
This is one of the best B&W images (IMHO) I've seen in a while. The layers created by the atmosphere as well as the presence of those rocks with perfect sharpness and focus in the front made it a perfect subject which you really captured well.
TFS and best regards,

Hi Mike
Perfect use of long exposure here, it gives the picture a nice moody feeling. Also the black and white approach works really well here.
Thanks for sharing

Mike: Great B and W presentation here. The shutter speed of 8 seconds worked extremely well in smoothing out the rough sea and creating the misty effect.
