Photographer's Note
The Valley Forge Covered bridge is also know as Knox Covered Bridge (PA-15-15#2) Burr Arch Truss built by Robert Russell in 1865. It is located in Valley Forge National Historical Park. It is named after Philander C. Knox (1855-1921) United States Senator from Pa. & General Henry Knox (1750-1806) an officer quartered at Valley Forge during the winter of 1777-1778. The GPS location is Lat. 40.0867N & Long. -75.4558W.
The bridge is built on a Burr Arch Truss.
See WS for bridge interior.
One of the earliest and most prominent bridge builders in our country was Theodore Burr from Torringford, Connecticut. His career began in New York where he built a bridge spanning the Hudson River in 1804. Burr's truss design soon became one of the more frequently used sytems. The Burr arch truss, as the design became known, used two long arches, resting on the abutements on either end, that typically sandwiched a multiple kingpost structure. There are more bridges in Pennsylvania using the Burr truss design than the total of the other truss designs-123 located in or between thirty different counties.

Hello Asa,
A fine capture of this covered bridge. Your point of view is well chosen to show its length and put it in context as well offering a good sense of depth. I like the contrast between the warm tones of the foliage and the white painted bridge. Light colours and sharpness are all very good.

Hello Asa,
Another interesting covered bridge which seems to need a little painting job. Your angle of shot is very good as it allows us to see all the openings in this bridge and the road leads the eye onto the bridge. Nice fall view in the background with this carpet of fallen leaves.
Best regards

Hi Asa,
The road is taking my eyes toward the bridge which is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the valley Forge covered bridge. The late morning light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Bonjour Asa
Nous en avons aussi beaucoup de ces ponts couverts au Québec. Ils sont souvent dans un environnement magnifique comme ici, dans une belle campagne. Les murs de pierres sont très beaux.

Good evening Asa,
Here is an amazing wooden building, typically American, if I understand your note. I suppose it is covered to protect its wooden floor against the rain... Typical architecture and much charm indeed! I like your framing very much because it shows the way connected to the bridge and causes that way an interesting depth to the wiew. Job well done, for sure.
Best regards.
Guy.

Un bien joli patrimoine qu'il faut sauvegarder.

Fine subject, good perspective and lovely colours.
The white paint of the bridge stands out well from the light brown of the leaves in the background. These covered wooden bridges are an interesting and stylish heritage in the States.
Well captured and framed.
Best regards,

Another nice shot of a covered bridge.
The pov is different from the following shot, but it's anyway a good scenery, well composed and enriched by the yellow items.

Bonjour Asa,
Un pont bien caractéristique de cette région des Etats-Unis, au beau milieu des couleurs vives de l'automne.
Un pont qui aurait besoin d'un petit coup de peinture.
La photo est très bien cadrée.

hi Asa
consider yourself very luck and fortunate to have the luxury of photographing this covered bridge, they are so scarce and almost extinct nowadays.
looking at this, i can only imagine the beauty it would have when covered in snow.
lovely and picturesque
cheers

Hello Asa
I don't think anybody in this site shows us the heritage of America like you...the buildings, the architecture. Covered bridges are quite unique in America, I believe & this one is a fine representation of the same. Against the autumn foliage strewn in the ground in the BG, the white bridge stands out well.
Best Regards
Angshu
PS : What's your opinion about the Tamron 18-270 lens which you used here?

Hi Asa,
Your 'Covered Bridge Series' is comprehensive and evocative of the collection Tom O'Donnell (gunbud) has shared with us. I don't know of any other place in the world outside the United States where these bridges abound. Your note is first rate, as always.
Warm regards,
