Photographer's Note
July 4th fireworks over Clearlake were pretty spectacular this year. I got lucky on this shot to capture one, very large firework explosion. Although it's 4300 feet tall, Mount Konocti looks dwarfed in the background. I just love when you look up and a firework explosion seems to fill up the sky, and the huge orange ones like this are my favorites.
I must have held that camera up to my eye most of the night, and I undoubtedly looked like a victim of spousal abuse by the end of it. Theoretically it would have been great to have a tripod, but with all the people milling about, and the unpredictability of where each firework would explode in the sky, I doubt it would have helped.

Hi Rachael,
This guy attracted my attention not only for the firework burst, but the shadow of the Sleeping Giant - Mt. Konocti.
Good job,
Ray
PS: I drive to Clearlake tomorrow to check on my lot vegetation removal at Clearlake Riviera, and the lot has both good views of the Lake and Mt. Konocti. Wish I had a sailboat!

Hi Rachel. Excellent capture, the simplicity of the composition gives this and elegant look. The little natural light shows the mountain well also. Nice work and thanks for sharing.
Have a good Sunday, Paul.

Hello rachel. The photo pleases me very well. It is excellent composed. The silhouette of the mountains, the low-blue sky and the fireworks complement each other in the best way. Marvelously. Best regards, Wolfgang.
