Photographer's Note
The Bonneville Salt Flats are a 159 square mile salt flat in northwestern Utah and are the remains of the glacial Lake Bonneville. The area is largely inhospitable to plants although this photograph was taken right on the edge of the salt flats, with some plants surviving.
The salt flats are located on the eastern border of the casino-resort town of West Wendover, Nevada.
The area became famous when Malcolm Campbell set numerous land speed records and the Bonneville Speedway is used for high-speed race cars which have achieved speeds in excess of 600 miles per hour.

Hello, Lisa.
Now, I've never seen a picture of the Salt Flats before, though I've heard and read a lot about them.
This is a very fine picture indeed - wonderful contrasts and absolutely stunning sharpness from the nearest foreground to the far distance. Perfect exposure too and, again, a beautifully blue sky.
I see some tyre tracks in the foreground - could they have been made by some young babe astride a speeding Harley?
Seriously, a very good picture and an interesting note to accompany it.
Kind Regards,
John.

Ah - takes me back to my youth when I was a nutter for motorbikes. The Triumph Bonneville set records here when Britain was a major motorcycle manufacturer.
Love the contrast of the salt with the mountains behind. Must be amazing plants to be that salt tolerant.
