Hi Rosalie!
Although You are not so satisfied with the background I like this picture. The expression on the woman's face is very nice. Still thinking, what's on her mind this very moment?
Is she curious about something, thinking or just enjoying the sun?
B&W seems to be a good choice for me!

Hi Rosie,
An absolutely fantastic photo. Excellent light and superb black and white photo. I am sure this time it is not better in color. Do not worry about the lines. It nothing you could do about it because You could see that the first line is straight. It is a perfect photo.
Best regards,
Ulf

a beautiful b&w portrait rosie! (i hope you were just joking about the lines being straight..) she looks so proud and content at the same time... she radiates peacefulness.. her expression draws me too, i can unerstand why she caught your attention.. great lighting and excellent positioning/cropping... top notch work, definitely your best portrait, and the best on te for me for quite a while.. (just some technical observations: watch out for the burnouts.. you may want to try some loacal pp in those "sensitive" areas..)

Hi Rosalie,
Excellent portrait. Superb B&W tones. Maybe her dress is a bit overexposed but in the strong sunlight I guess it can happen to anybody. Nice artistic work on the WS.

Rosie,
A tremendously powerful and impressive portrait here. I am reminded of Russian classic movies by Eisenstein from the 1920s...the woman's is so powerfully presented that it is nothing sort of a classic expression.
Your drawing is good too.
Fantastic work.

Rosie...
Tell me please, that you can't sing without having people around you fleeing as far and as fast as possible. Please! Not only you write marvelously well, you take very creative and original photos and then now, I'm discovering that you draw well!!! At least, I know you can't write French! ... Can you? ;)
Ok, back to this photo. This woman is beautiful. So beautiful indeed. And I understand why you were attracted to her beauty. She emanates so much strongness and peacefulness at the same time. She could be a goddess and I would not be surprise! But hey, don't count on Rosalie Petro to just do a regular and nice portrait. No. Rosalie Petro will find the way to do a great portrait of a beautiful woman. She will know what to do and to say to that woman to bring her soul to the surface, instead of having a self-concious woman posing.
Do I have to tell you that I totally love this photo? ;)
Claire
(I agree with Mark about the overexposed parts. A little problem of our dear Rebel...)

A good portrait, well captured. I don't think the lines in the background detract from the pic.

This is amazing Rosalie. The girl is beautiful in her own right but your ability to portrait her even enhances this beauty. Love the play between light and shadow and strong sharpness of it. The contrast is incredible too. A great photo with a great title. Thanks for sharing this.

She's a proud woman. She's a beautiful woman. And she knows that.
And you knew that Rosie, did you?
And you used all your magnificent skills to present those charming qualities of her to us.
And I'm on my knees.

This is a CLASSIC portrait, Rosie, very strong work, strong statement here. In fact this could have been taken during the 30's by the Walker Evans crew around the time of the New Deal. I have seen few close portraits that had this amount of "heft" and resonance. Your BW tones are masterly. I am humbled...
Best,
Francis

Hi Rosie - very good portrait shot. MAybe a wee bit overexposed in the white areas, but the face is increadibly strong, she is a great subject.
For the background...a larger aperture would reduce the DOF so it would appear blurred.
Great WS post, showing us another side of your artwork :)

such an excellent portrait, there are some burnt-out highlights, but i take this as a 'high-key' image, so.. :) her expression here is priceless imo..
a classic image i would say, very good stuff Rosalie.
cheers.

Hi Rosie,
her skin is perfect for this sort of b/w photography. It rerally carries the light magnificently, giving your shot a super tonal range. The expression on her face is also beautiful.

Hi Rosalie,
Simple portrait, straight.
Some highlights could have been distracting (maybe you did you exposure on the dark skin) but rapidly become invisible with such face'expression, graceful, proudness..
Thanks, Alain -

Can't argue with anyone. Great expression, beautiful woman. Makes me feel kind of content in the heart when I look at it. (I think we need a word in English to describe that sensation!)

Hi Rosalie
nice portrait, I like the expression of this lady, B&W makes it very nice. I dont think the background is bad, the main focus is on the person so its not as noticeable for the lines.
Good job

Hello again Rosalie.
Just superb. I'm usually full of words and bulls*%t, but looking at your gallery manages to silence me. Such an well rounded style you have...tackling, it appears, most styles of photography (is there really more than one?). Tonality is just awesome...she is beautiful and hasn't lost an ounce of appeal through your lens.
Chris.

She has a beautiful face, a kind expression and a great look. I understand why you wanted to capture her and I think you did a great job doing so. The light on her face gives her a little extra glow, just an extra touch of nature.
