Photographer's Note
I was getting ready to go skiing when I looked up and saw Mount Bachelor bathed in the alpenglow of a sunrise. I got my camera and went out to take this shot, where, by chance there was a musher preparing his dogsled, adjacent to the Sunrise Lodge. This is the smaller of two base lodges, and where the local “Over The Hill Gang” ski club gathers to ski. Most of this group is retired and some are over 70 years of age, at which time they are given free ski passes. Many of these people ski 4 or 5 days a week
Mount Bachelor is in central Oregon and boasts about 3500 skiable acres accessed by ten lifts. As you may guess from the snow blowing off the summit, this area is frequently in the path of quite high wind velocities. The area had about 150 inches of snow on the runs at the time this image was captured.

Hello Larry,
Mt Bachelor doesn't look high but its low angle slopes look very attractive. The alpenglow add a nice touch to the colours of the morning. The sleogh in the foreground add a positive element to the image. It let us focus on it ahead of the ski run. Good colours and sharpness. Thanks Larry.

Hi Larry
Lovely light, especially way it interacts with the shadows in the trees. Wonderful detail, that cloud almost looks like it is an extension of the snow blowing off the mountain and as Roberto says, that sleigh is a very important detail.

Hi Larry
Great composition and perfect light over the mountain.
The sleigh means there are people around; nice detail too.
Cheers,
F.
