After a long day of hiking on the Channel Islands, we were greeted by this unusual lighting as we approached the calm waters of the harbor.

Hi Kathy,
Wonderful colors of this contrasting harbour with the dramatic sky. I love the three parted parallelism in the photo. I applied a WS for the grainy sky. Hope you like it.

Hello Kathy,

This is indeed unusual lighting, and helps in producing a gorgeous photo. The dark area in the foreground suggests water of immense depth. But then the beautifully illuminated masts, and their reflections in the water creates a spectrum of sorts. With the vast amount of sky and dark water at the top and bottom, it is evocative of an EKG printout. Well composed, impecably exposed.

Terrific shot. Lovely lighting and colour. Quite luminous. I love the proportions of the composition with the boats so near the top. Yes, there's a bit of noise in the sky because of the relative darkness. Easily fixed as Deniz shows. Still a good picture, nonetheless. Well done.

Hello Kathy,
It's been a long time since I have visited your gallery and I must say I regret I haven;t done that earlier, I enjoy walking through your photos. I've never seen so many boats in one place, the light is where it should be focused and the dark front gives a depth. Well done, although the noise on the sky could've been easily removed.
