Photographer's Note
These ladies appear in the fall all over the Northern California foothills. They remain in there protective balls until the sun warms them.

Hello Dan,
Very original! In Australia we have harlequin bugs which also form large clumps like this, but they have iridescent rainbow colourations. Beautiful crispness, esp. in relation to the leaf. Your subtle background is non-invasive and keeps the eye well fixed on the many subjects. Wonderful warm colours and a good contrast also. Have a nice day.

Hello Dan
Talk about swarming!
Excellent view and great close up detail as well.
Composition is excellent, the "ladies" are not too overwhelming to the shot but still give the right impressions.
Focus is nice and sharp and the details are great.

That sure is a big club of ladies. Great tones! Nice contrast too!
I like the sharpness on the ladies and leaves in front a lot, also the DOF works very fine here. Nice blurry background, a bit of noise, works fine here, really!
Well executed macro shot, no complaints from my side :)

Hi Dan,
Such vibrant colors to go along with with this nature shot. My daughter lives towards the top of a hill and every spring there are loads of these girls in thier house and her children know they are friends.

Hello Dan,
This is amazing, I've never seen that before. I wonder what is the explanation... The image is great, the reflections could have fooled the lens but you got it right. Nice "Micro" lens :-) and good exposure settings, you got the perfect DOF and bokeh! Great job, thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Catalin

makes my skin crawl :), very original picture. I like the colors here red and green and the simple background caused by the blur. very educative comment as well.
