Photographer's Note
The gull was very cooperative. He allowed me to get within five feet of him. It was if - "ok tourist shoot away - this is my best side"
Thanks for looking - if you like seagulls check out yesterdays group shot.
pp little cropping - levels.

Hi Dan,
nice photo of this posing gull! The bright white of the bird together with the dark-blue sea is great!

Hi Dan,
Wow you caught a real lunker well fed gull with a high opinion of himself. Beautiful soft colors with a beautiful muted background.

Hello Dan,
Beautifully conceived and implimented shot. I see that you were using 105mm lens, which is perfect for shooting portraits of people (without intruding), and it appears to work well with seagulls as well. The frame is also highly complementary, without detracting from the subject.

Hi Dan,
A very nice portrait. The composition and sharpness are good, the background is just right, and you have caught some personality in this fine gull. Well done.
Regards, Jackie
P.S. I'm looking forward to some fine photos from Oregon!

Hi Dan, not very easy to get such a nice close-up of a seagull. Maybe the ones at Monterey are better used to it but my experience at Point Reyes. You did a perfect framing and I have the impression that the seagull is even enjoying of being in the center of the attractions.

Hi Dan,
I'm a little amazed by the DOF you got (at f/11 I would have expected larger DOF). I guess I would have tried a lower aperture to get the DOF even smaller. But this is nitpicking, the image is very sharp, with nice colors and clarity. Nice work! TFS
